Every stem can emit MIDI: kick, snare, hats, toms, ride, crash each with sensible General MIDI notes (configurable per stem), tom pitches sorted into low/mid/high ranges, hi-hat openness as pedal CC, and velocities taken from the performance.

**Recording it:**

- Most DAWs can route MIDI straight from the plugin.
- **Logic** can’t record MIDI from an audio-effect plugin — so ReStem publishes a virtual **“ReStem 2” MIDI device** (Mac and Windows). Enable it in Settings, create a software-instrument track with “ReStem 2” as its input, and record normally.
- Or skip realtime entirely: **drag the MIDI chip** out of ReStem into your DAW, or export a .mid file — both contain the same performance.

**Export tempo:** the exported file declares the tempo set in Settings → Export → “MIDI tempo”. Set it to your project tempo before exporting so the performance lands on your DAW’s grid.
