I’m using Restem 2 Pro, in standalone mode separating a stereo drum track from a particular gig performance. I’m using offline “Best” option. The majority of the kick drum hits are landing in the Tom stem audio (and low Tom midi). Is there a way to influence restem to better differentiate between my kick and low Tom hits? Note the source drum audio is very clear as it is as recorded DI L&R from a Roland drum V71 module/kit.
Are you using the latest version? We added an option for the Best mode to disable bleed reduction which can cause the effect you’re describing on certain tracks.

Thanks Rim… I hadn’t seen the update that became available in recent days, I’ll update and try the stem/midi separation again and will let you know if it fixes the problem I’d experienced.
Hi, I have updated to latest version on Mac but the majority of kick drum is still landing in toms audio (floor Tom midi). I’m happy to share the source drum track and output stems/midi.
Did you disable Bleed Reduction?

Hi, I have run with Bleed option off (as well as a run with it on) and both scenarios still result in majority of kick landing in the Tom stem (and floor Tom midi).
If you wouldn’t mind sharing the audio file (or a portion of it), where you see this happening I would love to hear it. Send it to support@drumagog.com. ReStem correctly categorizes almost all kick and toms, but there are edge cases, for example a very low tom or a high kick drum, where the neural net might think a kick sounds like a tom and put it into the wrong stem category. I’m considering adding an option to re-label the stems so the midi out for toms can be used for kicks for example.
Rim update/resolved… after rerunning to get you an example wav the separation is now working perfectly. The only thing I knowingly did between the last failed attempt and the success I now have is have the laptop powered off and back on. Perhaps the latest software update needed that to apply the refined separation which now works perfectly Thank you for your help & guidance to resolve my issue - Restem now gives me exactly what I needed when separating a stereo drum audio into component stem wavs & midi. ![]()

That’s great to hear!
